ATELIER DESIGN FEATURED IN LOUISIANA LIFE MAGAZINE

REVIVING HISTORY - HIGH TIDE

Intending to honor the rich legacy of 'High Tide' while seamlessly integrating it into modern family life, the homeowners embarked on a journey of transformation. The goal was to blend historical charm with contemporary functionality. Preserving the original structure's integrity, Wendy’s design, along with team member Sarah Ott, retained authentic elements like original floors, fireplaces, and layout.

Room functions were reimagined to suit the homeowner’s lifestyle, with the dining room becoming a spacious kitchen and the primary bath transformed into a bar. Intentional detailing, including wainscoting and custom cabinetry, enhanced the historic ambiance.

The homes interior was meticulously curated with furnishings and colors reflecting Louisiana's natural beauty. From a swamp-scene wallpaper setting the tone in the foyer to a kitchen blending rustic and refined elements, each element creates a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.

The result is a home that honors its past while embracing the needs of a contemporary family—a testament to timeless design and thoughtful renovation.

We would like to thank the owners, Jen and Seth Smiley for allowing our team at Atelier Design to design their home from the architectural plans to the last detail of the interior design. Also, a big thanks to the contractor, subcontractors, and all of the fabricators for making it happen!

Get the inside scoop on the stunning transformation of 'High Tide', a 175-year-old antebellum raised center hall cottage on the Mandeville Lakefront.
